And with the rain comes Spring! We are officially there folks!! Spring is here. We here in the Okanagan are on a storm warning for the rest of Spring Break (our two week break). Fortunately, I love the rain.βοΈ
I have other quirkinesses (like sometimes inventing words because I love words), and one of my other quirks (other than liking stormsβοΈ and inventing words π) is I enjoyed successfully managing students with behaviour challenges in my classroom.
An important word in that last sentence was 'successfully'. In essence, I enjoyed knowing that I had strong, evidence based strategies that would help me to help that student. I loved seeing how many things changed for that student as I worked with them, their sense of confidence that they could improve their own lives, and the smiles that started to blossom on their faces.
Of course, if I wasn't successful, the behaviour wasn't any fun to have in class. But overall I found success.
This week's blog post and video are about students with Oppositional Defiant Disorder in the classroom. I have taught both students with serious behavioural issues and with an ODD diagnosis. There are definitely differences in the behaviours, although a lot of the strategies overlap.

There have been a few glitches completing my course on ADHD in the classroom, but I hope to have the F.R.E.E video class available soon. Creating the course is one thing, learning the tech has been another thing entirely. But I am getting there.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Engaging Curiosity
P.S. This picture of a coyote was taken just up the hill from my house. Although I don't want to wrestle with one anytime soon, I love looking at this coyote doing so well in his natural element.
